Amrit Singh brings 20 years of energy market and risk management experience to community choice agency

Sunnyvale, Calif. – Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) welcomes Amrit Singh as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Director of Administrative Services. Amrit has two decades of experience in the energy industry, specifically in managing the risks of a complex energy procurement portfolio at a large utility. As CFO and Director of Administrative Services, Amrit will focus on power supply purchasing, customer rate-setting and financial projections and reporting.

Most of Amrit’s utility experiences are from working in leadership positions for Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). His roles at PG&E included Senior Director, Market and Credit Risk Management and Senior Director, Revenue Requirements and Rates. Amrit has also worked at startup companies, and most recently provided strategic consulting in areas of risk management and utility operations to investor-owned utilities and community choice aggregators (CCAs).

Amrit will work closely with the SVCE board of directors and staff to ensure that the organization is implementing a strategic approach to reducing carbon emissions and providing clean, affordable energy to the community. Beyond CFO responsibilities, Amrit will also oversee accounting, information technology and human resources.

“I am very excited at the opportunity to work with the SVCE team and community leaders in providing innovative services to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while serving our customers at competitive rates,” Amrit said.

“We are excited to have Amrit’s broad experience and deep expertise of California’s energy markets added to the SVCE team. His leadership capability and his knowledge of the interplay among utilities, regulators, legislators, and consumers, will be valuable to SVCE and the entire CCA community,” said Girish Balachandran, SVCE CEO. “We look forward to his contributions in advancing our decarbonization goals.”

Amrit has an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, a BS in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis, and a certificate in Data Science from UC Berkeley.
