Bronwyn Barry is a Passive House-certified architect who specializes in designing highly energy-efficient homes. Her clients hired her firm to repair and expand their Sunnyvale bungalow, and during their initial meetings she steered them to an all-electric renovation.
“We knew this house could be powered entirely by their rooftop solar panels if we converted to all-electric appliances, including a heat pump water heater, heat pump cooling system and an induction cooktop. And the homeowners were happy to seal off their gas connections for good. Their house is an example of a “positive energy” building that is able to enhance and offset carbon emissions from other sources and it’s great that SVCE offers the option of carbon-free electricity.”
