Silicon Valley Clean Energy Launches Electric Vehicle Rebate Program

$2,000 EV Rebates Available for Income-Qualified Customers

Sunnyvale, CA — Electric vehicle (EV) rebates are now available to income-qualified Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) customers. Customers can receive $2,000 rebates towards the purchase or lease of a new or pre-owned EV or plug-in hybrid EV.

Customers who meet income qualifying requirements or are enrolled in a qualifying assistance program will be eligible for the rebate and can claim an instant rebate at the time of purchase through a participating dealership, or can claim the rebate after purchase. The program also makes EV experts available to participants to assist in applying for over $10,000 in federal and regional EV incentives.

“To achieve our emissions reduction goals, we need to decarbonize everything from home appliances to vehicles,” said SVCE Board Chair and City of Saratoga Councilmember Tina Walia. “These rebates support a greater initiative to reduce the cost barriers residents face to going electric. When combined with smart charging and EV rates, customers can save money while driving clean.”

In California, transportation accounts for 39% of total carbon emissions. According to UC Berkeley research, gas vehicles are a health crisis, but EVs are lowering the Bay Area’s carbon footprint.

For drivers, EVs have lower maintenance costs and when paired with smart charging and an EV electricity rate plan, they can be cheaper than the gas alternative. For convenient at-home charging, SVCE offers a $250 rebate for eligible EV chargers paired with the free GridShift smart charging app to provide the cheapest and cleanest charge.

The EV rebate is one of the many incentives offered by the local energy provider to help SVCE customers maximize their clean energy for a healthy, efficient and comfortable lifestyle. To explore other rebates available for switching from gas to electric, visit https://svcleanenergy.org/ehub/.
