Lights, Camera, Action! Entries Now Open for EmPowerSV Video Scholarship Competition

Calling local middle and high school students to participate

Sunnyvale, Calif. – Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) is awarding $20,000 in scholarships for the spring EmPower Silicon Valley short video competition. Local students are encouraged to unleash their creativity and explore the realm of clean, efficient, all-electric technologies through the power of video – with an opportunity to win up to $3,000 in scholarship funding.

The EmPowerSV Short Video Competition is open to middle and high school students in the 13 communities SVCE serves.

“This initiative goes beyond competition—it showcases SVCE’s dedication to inspiring a brighter future for Silicon Valley,” said SVCE Board Chair and Saratoga Councilmember, Tina Walia. “These videos ignite change and creativity among our eager and engaged youth.”

From championing the induction cooktop to crafting melodies for heat pump water heaters, creativity should take center stage in this year’s competition. Participants can choose between three exciting prompts to guide their submissions before the May 3 deadline.

SVCE will celebrate the winners in June, as they will be honored in the SVCE Hall of Fame. A total of eight videos will be awarded scholarship prizes of either $2,000 or $3,000 recognizing excellence in each prompt and creative presentation.
