Customers get same day service and up to $4,000 in incentives
Sunnyvale, CA — Local energy provider Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) now offers an emergency water heater replacement service for customers experiencing broken or failing gas water heaters – typically restoring hot water within 48 hours. The program provides homeowners with upfront rebates to lower out-of-pocket costs and an experienced contractor to manage the replacement process, including any necessary upgrades.
SVCE customers have access to thousands of dollars in agency-provided rebates to upgrade from gas to electric heat pump water heaters (HPWH). Customers have shared with SVCE that permitting and wiring upgrades can be difficult to navigate in emergency replacement scenarios. As most water heaters are replaced on burnout, SVCE designed the emergency replacement program to support customers looking to make this upgrade to a HPWH, without the hassle of managing the process themselves. This new service connects customers to expert HPWH installers who will provide quick installation and full-service support to stack federal*, state, and local incentives of up to $4,000.
Residents who use the emergency water heater replacement service will receive custom proposals with transparent pricing for an efficient and safe HPWH, typically within 48 hours of their initial service call.
“Heat pump water heaters are three times more efficient than gas water heaters, and real-world energy bill data from SVCE customers who have made this upgrade shows that they can cost less to operate,” said SVCE CEO Monica Padilla. “The SVCE program can relieve the stress of an emergency water heater replacement by managing the entire upgrade process. With rebates and expert installation, SVCE helps our customers save money while transitioning to safer and more cost-effective equipment.”
To use the emergency water heater service, SVCE customers can call the 24/7 hotline at (408) 260-5255. A partner contractor will work to schedule an in-home assessment for the same or next day. After the assessment, customers will receive their comprehensive proposal. Once approved by the customer, the contractor will manage everything from the installation to applying for permits and rebates.
Qualified residents may receive a HPWH replacement at no cost.
The emergency water heater replacement program is part of a suite of SVCE resources that streamlines the process of upgrading to efficient, clean, and safe electric equipment. To explore the different pathways to go electric at home, visit www.ehub.svcleanenergy.org/.
