SV Clean Energy Community Grant Program applications open for schools and community organizations
Sunnyvale, Calif. – Local electricity provider, Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE), opens applications for $3.2 million in grant funding to support schools and community organizations in Santa Clara County with building electrification, transportation electrification, and energy resilience projects. The deadline for submitting applications is Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 5 p.m. PDT.
“The Community Grant Program was created to support community-serving groups in the transition to clean, electric technologies,” said Larry Klein, SVCE Board Chair and City of Sunnyvale Mayor. “The grants enable and empower recipients to reduce their local greenhouse gas emissions, lower long-term energy and transportation costs, and directly experience the health and resilience benefits of electric equipment.”
This is the third round of Community Grants SVCE has funded since 2020. This round broadens funding from municipalities to schools and community organizations. In expanding funding opportunities to community-serving groups, SVCE aims to make the transition to a clean, healthy electric future more accessible and affordable for mission-driven organizations.
The grants are designed to support school and community group projects such as:
- Replacing fossil-fuel systems with all-electric equipment (such as electric heat pump water heaters and heat pump heating and cooling)
- Adding solar paired with battery storage or adding battery storage to existing solar
- Purchasing electric vehicles for school or community use and installing their related infrastructure
SVCE aims to fund projects that reduce emissions, lower long-term energy and transportation costs, increase energy bill savings, and build community awareness of the benefits of all-electric equipment. Recipients will also have the opportunity to opt for technical assistance for their projects to further reduce up-front financial and capacity-related barriers.
SVCE anticipates awarding up to seven projects with grant funding. No match funding is required to receive funding. Recipients will be announced by September 2026. This round of grant funding follows $14.7 million SVCE has invested in capital projects that improve resilience in Santa Clara County communities. See past SVCE Community Grant projects here.
