Board of Directors Appoints New Chair and Vice Chair

Los Gatos Vice Mayor, Rob Rennie, elected as chair and Gilroy councilmember Daniel Harney elected as vice chair.

Sunnyvale, Calif. – At the Feb. 8, 2017 Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) Board of Directors meeting, the board elected a new chair and vice chair. Rob Rennie, Vice Mayor for the Town of Los Gatos, was elected as the 2017 chair for the SVCE Board of Directors.

“Serving as chair of the Silicon Valley Clean Energy Board of Directors is an honor,” said Chair Rennie. “2017 will be our first year serving customers, and I look forward to upholding the commitments of our board to serve our residents and businesses with carbon-free energy at prices lower than PG&E.”

The board also elected Daniel Harney as the new vice chair. Vice Chair Harney is a councilmember from the City of Gilroy. Both nominations passed unanimously by the board.

“Silicon Valley is a leader in innovation. SVCE is a leader when it comes to providing clean energy and serves all of our communities within our service area. I am proud to represent south county in this respect,” said Vice Chair Harney.

Along with the newly appointed chair and vice chair, the SVCE Board of Directors is made up of 10 other members from each of the participating communities within the SVCE service area. The board represents each community’s interests in the SVCE Community Choice Energy program to direct policies, set rates, create programs and any other matter that may arise, always keeping in mind the residents and businesses they serve.

Following the election of the chair and vice chair, the board voted members to serve on the SVCE Executive Committee. The chair and vice chair continue to serve on this committee along with Past Chair Rod Sinks, Liz Gibbons, Howard Miller and welcoming a newly appointed director, Margaret Abe-Koga, serving for the City of Mountain View.

The Executive Committee serves to provide more in depth reviews of larger policies and programs to guide SVCE. Items reviewed by the Executive Committee are still presented to the board for final approval.

In addition to congratulating board members elected into new positions, SVCE also welcomed several new board members. Councilmember Courtenay Corrigan represents the Town of Los Altos Hills, Councilmember Margaret Abe-Koga represents the City of Mountain View, and Supervisor Dave Cortese, represents Santa Clara County.
