Commercial Rates
Clean energy and competitive rates.
You get both when you choose renewable and clean electricity from Silicon Valley Clean Energy. We partner with PG&E to deliver your electricity and ensure we provide transparent costs. The charges you see on your bill can be simplified into two categories:
Electric Generation: This pays for your source of power and how much electricity you’re using. Rates vary, depending on the type of service you choose: SVCE GreenStart, SVCE GreenPrime or PG&E.
Click here to view our small, medium, large and industrial commercial rates, and how our prices compare to PG&E’s generation rates.
Electric Delivery: PG&E still delivers your electricity on existing lines and maintains those lines. PG&E delivery rates are the same for everyone, both SVCE customers and PG&E customers.
PG&E does add additional fees to your bill and those are always included in the cost comparisons below. You’ll find a full explanation of all the items on your bill in Understanding Your Bill.
Rate Plan Designations
Small Commercial
This is a time-dependent rate for businesses with a small load under 75 kW.
Example business types: | Retail storefronts, small offices, and small restaurants. |
Demand charges? | No |
kW threshold* | 75 |
*Customers with a maximum demand of 75 kW or greater for three consecutive months in the most recent twelve months are not eligible for service under this rate schedule. More information about the B1 rate can be found on PG&E’s webpage.
Small Commercial (High Differential)
This is a time-dependent rate for businesses with a small load under 75 kW. This rate is differentiated from B1 by a larger differential in peak and off-peak prices. This rate may potentially be advantageous for solar customers.
Example business types: | Retail storefronts, small offices, or small restaurants with the ability to control load in peak hours of 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. |
Demand charges? | No |
kW threshold* | 75 |
*Customers with a maximum demand of 75 kW or greater for three consecutive months in the most recent twelve months are not eligible for service under this rate schedule. More information about the B6 rate can be found on PG&E’s webpage.
Medium Commercial
This rate is for businesses that use more than a maximum demand of 75 kW but less than 500 kW per billing cycle.
Example business types: | Large retail/grocery, Medium office spaces, Light industry or shop spaces. |
Demand charges? | Yes |
kW threshold* | 76-499 |
*Under Rate Schedule B-10, there is a limit on the demand (the number of kilowatts (kW)) the customer may require from the PG&E system. If the customer’s demand exceeds 499 kW for three consecutive months, the customer’s account will be transferred to Schedule B-19 or B-20, as applicable. More information about the B10 rate can be found on PG&E’s webpage.
Large Commercial
This Time-of-Use plan is for businesses that use more than a maximum demand of 499 kW, but less than 1000 kW per billing cycle.
Example business types: | Large retail/grocery, Cold storage facilities, Large office spaces, or Medium industrials with the ability to control load in peak hours of 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. |
Demand charges? | Yes |
kW threshold* | 500-999 |
* This schedule is available on a voluntary basis for customers with maximum billing demands less than 500 kW. If a customer’s maximum demand has failed to exceed 499 kilowatts for 12 consecutive months, PG&E will transfer that customer’s account to voluntary B-19 service or to a different applicable rate schedule. More information about the B19 rate can be found on PG&E’s webpage.
Industrial/Large Commercial
This plan is for businesses that have a maximum demand over 1000 kW per billing cycle.
Example business types: | Large industrials, Data Centers, and manufacturing. |
Demand charges? | Yes |
kW threshold* | 1000+ |
*A customer will be eligible for continued service on Schedule B-20 if its maximum demand has either: (1) Exceeded 999 kilowatts for at least 5 of the previous 12 billing months; or (2) Exceeded 999 kilowatts for any 3 consecutive billing months of the previous 14 billing months. If a customer’s demand history fails both of these tests, PG&E will transfer that customer’s account to service under a different applicable rate schedule. More information about the B20 rate can be found on PG&E’s webpage.

Rate Details
Electric generation rates are set by SVCE’s Board of Directors, a group of elected officials from each of the participating communities. The Board seeks community input before rate changes go into effect.

Energy Efficiency Incentives
Customers enrolled with SVCE remain eligible for PG&E energy efficiency rebate and incentive programs. For more on energy efficiency rebates and incentive, visit the PG&E program webpages.

Demand Response Programs
With the exception of Peak Day Pricing, commercial customers remain eligible to participate in most existing PG&E and third-party Demand Response programs that offer incentives for reducing demand during critical peak time periods. NEM for Solar
SVCE offers an attractive Net Energy Metering (NEM) program for businesses with solar panels or other forms of onsite generation.
